What is UP Matrix?
UP Matrix is a performance diagnostic that tracks how efficiently business units, teams, or processes convert inputs into outputs over time. While ARC Grid looks outward at revenue distribution, UP Matrix looks inward at operational efficiency.
It measures Unit Productivity—the relationship between what goes in (resources, time, effort) and what comes out (results, revenue, impact).
The framework answers critical questions:
- Which units are improving efficiency versus declining?
- Where are productivity gains happening—and where is performance stagnating?
- Are we getting better at converting effort into results, or just working harder?
- What early warning signs indicate units are starting to struggle?
